The Ancient World: The Mesolithic age
The Mesolithic Age was in the period 10,000 BC – 6,000
BC. The global warming was the cause of the beginning of this period. It means
that The Ice age was over. These climate changes lead to changes in flora and
fauna. People started to leave their caves. In this period, they had the nomadic
lifestyle. All these factors changed people life completely.
In the Mesolithic age, art culture had some changes.
Mostly these changes were because of the nomadic lifestyle. People could not
paint on the walls of caves anymore. They
needed something that they could take with them, something mobile. So, the art of the Mesolithic age included small
figures of animals and women.
One of the most important inventions of this period
was the emergence of ceramics. This new invention influenced people life a lot.
But, originally, people used this new material for creating little figures.
Then they began to use it for creating utensils. So, they could make liquid hot
food. It makes organisms of those people healthier. As a result, life
expectancy and the population increased, and the mortality decreased.
Technological innovations concerned the manufacture of
clothing as well. The emergence of threads from plant material made possible fabric
manufacture.
In general, the population of most parts of the world
in the Mesolithic Age existed within the framework of the appropriating
economy, leading a mobile way of life. The material and art culture of these
ancient tribes corresponded to their needs and environmental conditions.
