Street Art in Ireland

When I arrived in Ireland and walked around a city, I was very surprised a lot of very beautiful street art everywhere. It does not look like some bad boys wanted to damage property and left strange letterings around the city. It really looks like pieces of art. I lived in Limerick City, and, at first, I thought this tendency is only for this city. But when I went to Dublin, I realized that this tendency covers whole Ireland.

Street Art in Ireland is not just graffiti in abandon streets in the country. It’s like a part of the country. Different graffiti decorate hotels, cafes, restaurants, shops and other buildings. Street Art in Ireland is not an illegal underground activity. Irish businesses, arts organizations and Dublin City Council sponsor and promote artists.

Irish Street Art was included as a core element of the Dublin Contemporary international art exhibition in 2011. Businesses invite street art artists to decorate its building facade. Government invites street art artists to cover building walls which you can see on tourist routes. In 2015, Maser designed a 'wrap' for an Expressway bus which can still be seen on the Dublin to Cork route.
